The Ellison Fire Department is accepting applications for paid-on-call firefighters, inviting community members to join a team that responds to emergencies and provides first medical response services.
Applicants must live within eight kilometres of Station 61, located at 4411 Old Vernon Road, be between 19 and 65 years old, and meet physical requirements. A valid Class 5 driver’s licence and a completed criminal record check are also required.
Application forms can be submitted in person at the station on Monday, Feb. 9, or Tuesday, Feb. 17, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Applicants may also apply by email to ellison.chief@rdco.com.
Prospective recruits will be contacted about interviews and practical assessments, which are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28. Successful candidates will receive training as First Medical Responders, as the station provides both firefighting and medical emergency services to the community along Old Vernon Road.
Established in 1979, the Ellison Fire Department serves the area near Kelowna Airport and encourages interested residents to reach out for more information by emailing ellison.chief@rdco.com.
