Residents connected to the Killiney Beach water system are being advised to boil their tap water after the Regional District of Central Okanagan issued a Water Quality Advisory.
The advisory was issued due to increased turbidity, or cloudiness, in the water supply, and affects all properties connected to the system.
As a precaution, residents — especially those with weakened immune systems, children and seniors — are advised to bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least 60 seconds before using it for drinking, brushing teeth, preparing food, making beverages or ice.
Residents can also use bottled or distilled water as an alternative.
The advisory will remain in place until bacterial testing is complete and disinfection levels return to normal drinking water standards within the distribution system.
Roadside signs have been posted in the affected area. Residents can find updates through the Regional District of Central Okanagan website or by contacting RDCO Engineering Services.
