Ron Cannan to run for Kelowna Mayor

Kelowna City councillor Ron Cannan will formally start his bid to become mayor tomorrow, Thursday June 18, but the news is already public.

On social media, Cannan said he plans to run, in part, on a crime and security ticket saying many businesses and residents have increasing concerns related to homelessness, addictions and mental health. He also wants to lead a greener and more fiscally responsible city.

Incumbent mayor Tom Dyas has not yet publicly revealed his future political plans.

Cannan was the local Conservative MP 2006-2015 and before that spent nine years on Kelowna council.
