Kelowna Fire Department urges wildfire caution

The Kelowna Fire Department is urging residents and visitors to use extreme caution in city parks and natural areas as dry conditions keep wildfire danger elevated.
Vegetation in many parks and open spaces is increasingly dry, meaning even a small ignition source could quickly spark a wildfire.
Assistant Fire Chief Dennis Craig says wildfire prevention is everyone’s responsibility and is asking the public to stay on designated trails and avoid activities that could create sparks.
Smoking is prohibited in all City of Kelowna parks. Smoking in parks can be reported to 250-469-8686.
Anyone who spots smoke, flames or signs of a wildfire is urged to call 911 immediately.
The department says quick reporting can help crews contain fires before they spread.
