She’s spent years challenging how Kelowna is growing, now Susan Ames wants a seat at the council table.
Ames announced on Facebook that she’ll run for city council in the Oct. 17 municipal election, saying the city needs more balance in its approach to development.
The Abbot Street Heritage Conservation Area Society president also ran for council, unsuccessfully, in 2022.
She said Kelowna needs to slow growth, protect the environment and listen more to residents.
Ames said the city is facing many challenges that are being glossed over in the current growth and development frenzy and this is putting the environment and livability at risk.
“We can’t afford that. It is time to change direction at the council level to make Kelowna a better city for the citizens,” she said.
